Humidity

The influence of humidity on putting on eyelash extensions

What does humidity have to do with eyelash extensions? A lot! If the humidity is too high or too low, the adhesives will not work properly. That is why it is important to have the ideal humidity in your workspace. This way you can apply the eyelash extensions to your client under the best conditions. The tip? A hygrometer, or humidity meter!

Can eyelash extensions fall out due to high or low humidity?

As already mentioned; the glues do not work well at too high or too low humidity. Cyanoacrylate is one of the components of glue and this part hardens in combination with moisture. Cyanoacrylate is in all our glues, because this is what ensures the bond with the natural eyelash.

Humidity is an important factor for the curing of glue. Too high humidity causes the glue to harden too quickly, too low humidity causes the glue to dry too slowly. If the humidity in the workspace is not right, the eyelash extensions can indeed fall out.

What is the ideal humidity when applying eyelash extensions?

This varies per glue, but the most ideal humidity is between 45% and 65%. Most glues work best with this humidity. What about the glues you work with? This is stated in the product information of your eyelash glue.

What can you do if the humidity is too high or too low?

When you see that the circumstances are not good, it is of course necessary to take action. A few tips!

To increase the humidity, you can place a humidifier, turn on a kettle or place damp towels on the radiator.

To reduce the humidity, you can turn on the air conditioning and/or place dehumidifiers in the room. If it doesn't work or doesn't work fast enough, you can use a primer with alcohol use. The alcohol ensures that the process of drying the glue accelerates.

Also use a super bonder at the end of the treatment, this maximizes retention. Our super bonder can be used with any glue.

What is a hygrometer?

A hygrometer, also called a humidity meter, measures the humidity and temperature in a (work) space. If you have this hanging in your salon, you know exactly what the humidity level is in the space. A must have, because this way you also know for sure whether your eyelash glue is going to harden at the right speed. If you see on the hygrometer that the humidity is actually too high or too low to apply eyelash extensions, you can check and adjust the humidity. Ideal!
